My Genelecs – as Crystal as Water

Well, my dream started when I was 15 (I am 33 now). I dreamed about making my own recordings because I couldn`t afford to make one. So I said, let’s work on it. When I got married (26), I bought my first computer and a small Alesis console and after that I got my first DAW. Echo Layla 20 by then. Then I saved some money and I started to read on the internet about some studio monitors.

I was planning on the Yamaha NS10. So, I asked, I read, and finally I realized how Genelec was the best solution, I heard of Genelec several years ago, and I thought – I cannot afford it! But, I decided to get them, and I did. On Ebay I found a pair of beauties, 1029A’s. And from the very first moment I listened to them I said, this is as crystal as water. So I compared my previous recordings with the actual ones recorded using the ‘baby bears’ and I found several differences, my babies are very accurate and my mixes sound great everywhere I play them.

One of my problems is the room that I use! I had a lot of sound problems, but using all the different setting options (DIP switches) that the monitors gave me, I overcame them. Then, when I had my first drum recording session, I realized I need to hear what is going on on the floor, so I said: I need a subwoofer... so I did my research, and I read about the combination between my bears and the amazing 1091A. So, I Ebay-ed again.

The first record I ended mixing with my Genelec system was a hit, because the sound was great. In my country, I am one of a few guys that uses Genelec, because we cannot afford it. So, my friends come to my studio to mix, and they are working hard to get some babies like mine in the future.

Thanks Genelec for what you`ve done for all of us.
