7060B with 1030A?
Padawan Posts: 50 Join Date: 3/2/18 Recent PostsHello…
I have a pair of 1030A. Still in love after all these years :)
I’m looking to add a Genelec subwoofer for a more rewarding experience. From other threads, I’m well aware the 7040 and 7050 aren’t up to the task, but the 7060A certainly is.
Unfortunately, I can only get the 7060B here in Thailand.
Will that be a good match?
My intention is to connect my DAP to the subwoofer with a left/right XLR cable, and from there run a cable to each monitor.
Thanks!!

The SAM subwoofers will integrate into your space far better than non SAM, genelec have great guids on how to mix and match legacy monitors with the new subs. SAM will cost a bit more and you'll also have to purchase GLM, but it is money well spent.

Thanks for the quick reply, amigo. Much obliged.
Still, the question stil standing: can I successfully use the 7060B?
I read around the 7060A would work just find. Not certain about the B.
(I must ask: the 7050 won’t work , willl it? I think the bass roll-off is a bit off – excuse the pan :))
Yeah, I looked up that guide, “SAM Series Compatibility & Operations (July 2015)” but to word in reference to the 1030A…

Jedi Master Posts: 340 Join Date: 4/6/09 Recent PostsIt is all explained in the owners manual, yes you can use a 7060B if you can find one...
If you can't find one, a 7360 would be a far better solution and will work correctly with your 1030's
The compatibility comes down to Bass Management and having the system crossover correctly.

Padawan Posts: 50 Join Date: 3/2/18 Recent PostsNow I have a question that will make you split your ribs in laugher...A testimony to my limited experience and knowledge:
To which ports do I connect my source on the subwoofers? I have a DAP with a 2-run cable (left and right sides), terminated with male XLR. Currently, I stick each end into a monitor.
I can’t upload images, so here are the links to the 2 subs. There are close-up photos of the rearside on each page:

Thanks (with a bashful smile)

I dug the relevnant documenation. Thanks for all.
